Felting Fun
Hi, a long weekend of felting fun was offered by one of our members, Suzanne G. More than a dozen of us descended on Suzanne's place on Sunday to learn how to make shibori felted shapes. Many different colours were used for both the backing fabric and the roving side. A number of us stayed the night (8 all up from memory), and felted again on Monday, learning about resists, four of us stayed that night and felted again on Tuesday, practicing what we had learnt, heading home late that afternoon. A wonderful three days was had, lots of laughter, chat, eating and creating in great company. Thankyou again Suzanne G.

Poppies, poppies and even more poppies
In the middle of last year it was decided to create something to commemorate Rememberance day and also Anzac day using poppies created from fibres.
Dinie G., was the first one creating poppies, Annette took up the challenge and mustered help from all members of Fibres and also created the final installation. This piece was part of the Umbrella Gallery members exhibition which was entitled 'Memory'.
Below are some photos of the final piece in situ at Umbrella Gallery and also now on the second floor of Federation Place, Townsville.
The piece is called 'we do remember them'.
There were 1450 poppies created all up, thanks to the members.

YarnBombing Townsville Flinders Street, outside MaryWho bookshop
Here are some photos of Fibres members yarnbombing (with permission) one area of Flinders Street in Townsville for Christmas.. We arrived early, some (me) a bit later than others.... It was a great time of day to start as we were well and truly finished and eating breakfast before it got hot.. and we were extra lucky that our side of the street was in the shade.
Involved were Suzanne C, Pam W, Lynn F, Barb N, Marion G, Dinie G, Sue T, Janet B, Annette S, Sharyn D, Trish W, and 2 friends of Marion's whose names I cannot recall. Sorry.

Embroidery Christmas Lunch
Well the Christmas lunches have started, with Embroidery group enjoying a wonderful lunch at Jessica's home. Our swap decoration this year was an embroidered boot. As usual Barb decided to expand on the idea and design her own, of course the lovely white one.
This being my last meeting, it was lovely to have a nice lunch together.
Our swapped boots.
