The New Year is off to a creative start....

On Wednesday afternoon we gathered for the Bookies planning meeting a chance for members to decide what they would like to learn, what they are able to share and a group direction for the coming year.

A suggestion was put forward that I show people the process that I use to Art Journal, this suggestion snowballed into monthly prompts for a group of single sheets that Birte will show us how to bind into a book later in the year.

January's prompt - If I had wings.......

to be completed by the February meeting.  Even if you are out of town feel free to follow these prompts that I will be posting.  Just use a readymade book, or alter a book...if you feel the urge to join us please comment with a link to your page for everyone to see.  This process is always fascinating because it is so interesting to see how different people tackle the same topic.

Alba leucos

Alba leucos An exhibition spilling out the doors, made from white yarn and fabrics

This is a collaborative exhibition between members of Fibres and Fabrics, a group of people who meet regularly to use fabrics and yarns in the art/craft process.  In Alba leucos (white - latin, white - greek) we are exploring different aspects of the human form.  We are choosing to only use white which can mean either the absence of colour or the inclusion of all colours.  (from Umbrella 2011 exhibition calendar written by Marion)

The exhibition will be held at Umbrella Gallery from August 19 to September 25.  All work will be for sale with proceeds going to Fibres to help towards our general fundraising for Relocation.

We're Back!

Fibres and Fabrics is back in session! We started off the year with a morning tea for some members' ..XX..th Birthdays. Here Joan cuts the Birthday cake, made by Suzanne C.
