ATC - Artist Trading Cards

This is a low key swap that all Members of Fibres are welcome to join in. The swap is held once a month on Bookies Day, that is the fourth Wednesday of the month at 1.00pm. The one rule is that your Artist Trading Card must measure 3 ½ inches x 2 ½ inches. It is low key in that you only need to participate when you are able, that is if you put a card forward you will receive a card in return. I also hold cards that people have prepared in advance when they will not be present on Bookies Day.

Proof

When Anne T. suggested our very first project for the Seamstress group in August 2008, would be to make a man’s shirt. This was to be a birthday present for my husband in September 2008. I gave it to him for his birthday in 2009, minus the buttons, as Anne told me he had to try it on in order to work out where he wanted the top button. I did take my new machine to Seamstress group in October but minus the instruction book and couldn’t work the buttonholer. So on Christmas morning I dragged out my old machine and for Christmas I gave my husband 5 buttons and their corresponding buttonholes. Now on to the summer dress fabric that I bought at the same time as Alan’s shirt material.

Show and Tell - Wednesday 20 Jan

This week I decided to show you some photos of artwork that didn’t make it to show and tell.

Lyn H embroidered a wedding card for friends of Anne T.

Liz S. made an adorable bear about six inches high

Navigating our Blog

Hope you like our new lay-out? I've moved things around a little which I hope will make things easier for you to navigate.

The posts, or articles with photos, are all on this side of the page, i.e. on the left. The things which appear in lists, as it were, are all to the right of the page.

Under the heading Blog Archives you'll find old posts. Let's say you want to find the article on Fibres Tasmania. If you click on 2009 for example you'll get a list of old posts, by month. Click on the month you want to read (in this case September) and up will come a list of headings for that month. Click on the title you fancy (which will be Fibres Tasmania) and that article will come up.

Under the heading Labels you'll find a list of sections or 'tags' so let's say you want to see the postcard exhibition in Ingham, click on Exhibitions and you should find it amongst the posts which come up. I'm sure you get the idea.

If you want to look at  one of the Members' Albums just click on their name under that heading.

If you want to have a look at a member's blog, click on their name under Members' Blogs and you'll be linked to their blog.

The Diary is simply a list of upcoming dates and meetings etc. Nothing to click! Just to read.

Hope this helps you find your way around.

It has it's own gmail address and password, so please email me at jungleburra@gmail.com to get the details and then you're set to add your own photos whenever you like. I'll give you a step by step rundown on what to do. It's not hard!

Sort and Tidy Day

The holiday break is over and some stalwart members got together on Wednesday to sort and tidy the storeroom and take stock of the library, while Janet caught up on the bookwork. This is going to be a fun-filled year with plenty of events coming up. Follow the diary to your right to keep up. First social Wednesday morning back is Wednesday 13th January. Yay!

Albums

I intended to update and create members' albums during the break, but guess what! My computer wouldn't wake up on Old Year's Day, would she? So we searched the town for an open computer doctor. We found one eventually, the one closest to home which we hadn't thought of immediately, of course! But the computer was declared DOA. Well, to cut a long story short, it seems I've lost all my photos which weren't already in web albums on Picasa. So, please email me ( jungleburra@gmail.com ) either your photos or the address to your own web albums if you have created one already? Thank you.
